Another of Mudgee's mid 1970s wineries that is coming into its prime. In the Age of Aquarius 60s, jaded rat racers turned their back on the city and headed north to the hills behind Byron Bay in the 70s, they came here, to Mudgee, making a major contribution to what continues to mature into one of Australia's most magnificent viticulture districts. Elliot Rocke Estate, under the direction of winemaker Simon Gilbert, is producing its best wines yet, including some gorgeous unwooded Chardonnays made from the vineyard's pick of the crop.
