Way up in the mountains behind Mudgee is this magic winery that offers something beyond the usual Chardonnay and Shiraz. Mountilford's more unusual varieties include a heavenly sweet Gewurztraminer, an all new Sylvaner Pinot Gris, and their Sir Alexander Port, as well as gourmet goodies for the larder such as wine mustard and red wine pasta. This is true high country, Mount Ilford is nearly 1,000 meters above sea level, with spectacular mountain scenery.
