Solely a performance theatre, opened in the 1930s, this is Australia's oldest theatre. During its beginnings and now, the theatre performs predominately social and political theatre. It describes itself as "... a theatre based on the principles of humanism and the realistic traditions of art. A theatre which has a sense of identification with humankind, both individually and collectively, and a belief in human progress." Ticket prices: Adults AUD22; concessions AUD15.
