Located at the headquarters of the National Trust of Australia (NSW), the building occupies the former military hospital erected in 1815 and later served as a government school. The gallery has established a reputation for its temporary exhibition programme, which focuses upon Australian themes. These include annual exhibitions such as the Salon des Refuses (a selection of entries rejected for the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Buy Australian-made goods at the adjoining shop and then relax in the cafe. Admission: Adults AUD6; concessions AUD4.
