When Olympic's organisers could not find a calm, perfect stretch of water, they built the International Regatta Centre in a former sand and gravel quarry. The 2,300 metre course, with consistent five metres depth and rock-coated wave-absorbing banks, is one of the best in the world. The lake is popular for picnics, rollerblading and cycling as well as various water sports. Guided walks operate Saturday and Sunday, meeting at the spectator stand, at 11a, 1p, 3p. Cost:Adults AUD4; children AUD2; families AUD10.
